Optimal Control of a Spark Ignition Engine Including Cold Start Operations for Consumption/Emissions Compromises

This study presents a semi-empirical modeling approach based on an extensive parametric using spark-ignition port-injection engine. The experimental results are used to derive engine-out emission models for each regulated pollutant (CO, HC, NOx) as function of engine operating parameters. Such parameters include speed, intake manifold pressure, equivalence ratio, and spark advance. proposed provide accurate predictions over large range conditions. adequate accuracy low computational burden the promising in context optimal control theory. Dynamic programming is applied order find best that define trade-off between fuel consumption emissions driving cycles.
